Several manufacturers carry a 30 day comfort guarantee on their boots and shoes. They want to make certain that your new boots are as comfortable as possible.
If your new boots are not more comfortable than other brand of boots you've worn the some manufacturers will give you a refund. HyTest, Harley Davidson, Caterpillar, Wolverine and Timberland offer such a guarantee. In the features list of each boot or shoe it will state if the footwear has the 30 day comfort guarantee.
